Marcus Thorsen 6:30-7pm .5 hrs.
Mainly worked on Inspecting Commuter Cars...
Our opening discussion... |
Enter Marcus Thorsen. |
Look what I brought! |
Grass for the cascading rock scene. |
Now we wait for next week. |
Time for Marcus to leave. |
Then Jordan... |
Rob keeps working on the Commuter cars. |
I spent some time putting on guard rails. |
Rob lays out all the cars. The ones in California Ave. Maintenance Facility are finished. The ones upside down on the mainline still need work. |
Another view of the same. Also, we found out I have 9 Kato commuter cabs/coaches. I have another 5 Walther's commuter cabs/coaches. I need 1 more cab/coach to complete my fleet. |
Here's the commuter cab I'm working on at the workbench. I'm putting guard rails around the model. |
Here's a pile of paperwork Rob completed tonight. |
Nice work everyone!

Working on Commuter Cab/Coach Car Fleet...
Yesterday I finished an exact model of this same car. Tonight, I'll try to finish this one. |
First I replaced the couplers. This one is the new one called a Kinematic Coupler.* |
This is the coupler that is factory installed. |
Car in the yard at California Avenue waiting for its test run. All details attached. |
I'm attaching all the paperwork so I know what I'm working with on the layout. |
Two done, 12 to go. |
Kinematic Couplers are used as non-working couplers so the cars
stay together when in motion. I've had problems with this so I hope
this solves that problem.

Subbing later in the morning.
Before I go, I got some work done on the Commuter Cars...
That black back drop really shows the white pieces. |
Working on another Cab/Coach Commuter Car. Adding the grab irons and other details. |
Still more work today. Lots of parts still in the tray. |
I started with the front of this cab car. |
Progress made since Monday night when Rob Fair started this project. |
This evening I did a bit more on this project...
I updated the commuter fleet spreadsheet. |
Then I decided to label each car according to the list. |
Plus I'm still in the middle of inspecting each car. |
As soon as I finish inspecting a consist, I will put those cars away in the spots at Chicago Terminal. |
There will be some changes to the Cars in Consist reports.
Especially to the West Line trains stored at West Chicago Yard
at the end of the day.

I organized the spreadsheet by consist: 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E |
Organized the trains by consist according to the spreadsheet above. |
Here's the Power Code and assignments. Let's add the engines to each consist. |
There you go. Five Commuter Trains 1A-1E ready to move to downtown Chicago Terminal. |
Here are the five trains with their respective locomotives at the head of each consist. |
This is the other end of each consist. Track 1 to the left and track 7 to the right. |
That took 29 minutes. We'll call it 30 minutes. |
