Finished Weekly Basement Layout Update Video

Also prepared trains for tomorrow's operating session...

I had two of these trains on the mainline, but now
they are back in place on Tracks 6 & 7.

These two trains are staged at the West Chicago Yards.
They will be the first two trains out of Geneva going
EB tomorrow night.

Train Day!
w/Rob Fair
Jordan Osborn
Marcus Thorsen

Here's what we did...

We are going to try to run each train tonight to see
how accurate the times are on this schedule.

Here's our crew for tonight's session.
l. to r. Rob Fair, Jordan's friend, Tae, and Jordan Osborn

Rob already ran one train to Harvard and back.
This train is the second train to Harvard.

This train is the third train on the layout tonight.
It left Chicago Terminal and arrived at Geneva.
Rob is on the return trip EB back to Chicago Terminal.

We finished the night off getting ready to add grab
irons and decals to this Walthers Cab car.

I'm going to add the grab irons to the Commuter Cars
belonging to Commuter Train 1A

Here is the front of the cab car with all the details attached.

And now it's on to the coach cars (2) to finish the job.

It takes about an hour to do the cab car.

Another 30 minutes to finish the two coach cars.

Check out the Weekly Layout Update for a video on this process.

I stopped by the home of Marcus Thorsen today and...

These pictures are for Chris Osborn, Jordan's dad.

He's a N scale modeler and wanted to see this
N-scale in-the-table-layout.

Marcus is also doing more of his magic.
We are going to improve the look of this section
of the RR with one of his signature walls.

I'm going to attempt to add these grab irons to the
Walthers Commuter Cars using a #80 drill bit.
You can hardly see it in the hand drill, but it's there!

I drilled out the holes that were marked on the car.

Inserted the grab irons.

Painted...

...with this cream color acrylic paint.

No train activity today.
Adding grab irons to the Walther's Commuter Cars.

Looking good! They came in very small wire, so
I had to paint them a cream color to match the car color.

Sat, May 25, 2024

Also getting ready for Sunday guests.
