Fixing the platforms at Winfield/Berkeley station

Bringing a partial intermodal test train to make sure
the adjustments I made on the platforms will be sufficient.

I also brought the original locomotive that alerted
me to the problem.

I added another task to the work order sheet -
paint the repaired section of the platform.

That took about 30 minutes.

Train Day!
Rob Fair 6-8pm 2 hrs.
Jordan Osborn 6:15-7:15pm 1 hr.
Marcus Thorsen 6:30-7:00pm 30 mins.

And here's what we did...

We started out this evening on our phones checking
out the internet for a specific answer.
What was the question?

Rob is going to use this sheet to make the platforms
for the Wheaton station.

I'm going to paint the repairs at Winfield/Berkeley.

Welcome Marcus!
He has been working at home on two projects.

How well does it fit?

This is going to work just fine.
Where's the glue gun?

Both men putting objects in place.

Waiting for the commuter train to pass through.

Jordan will be heading out soon.
Saying his goodbyes.

Commuter Train 1E making another lap.

Finishing touches for tonight's work.

See you next week!

Rob continues his work on the platforms.

Checking out the work Marcus did tonight.

Before Marcus heads out he checks out my new
scene I finished at Berkeley.

One platform is in place. The other will be installed
before we call it a night.

See Weekly Layout Update for Video action from tonight
of the Commuter Train 1E heading into Chicago Terminal.

Preparing the base for the middle platform.

Adding figures to the new scene at Berkeley neighborhood.

Both platforms in place at Wheaton.

All the scraps/debris from installing the platforms at Wheaton.

Time to call it a night!

Wow! We did a lot!

My birthday today.

Worked for a bit on the RR...

I had to reglue the base since it wasn't secure anymore.

Working on the cross walk across the tracks.

I scored the walk and will paint it to look like wood.

Wed, Apr 10, 2024

Lots more work today.

This afternoon from 2-3:30pm

Painted crosswalk to simulate wood crossing planks

Used the same paint to cover bare wood.
Marcus wanted me to do that by next Monday.

Yep, that looks much better.

This is the scene Marcus is working on.
Looking good!

Back to Wheaton Station platforms.

After fitting each piece in place it's time to glue them down.

First the base level.

Then the top level.

Close up of the "wood" cross walk.

And then tonight from 6-7:30pm

Installed the yellow safety lines.

Weathered the platforms.

Cleaned everything up and getting ready to ballast.

Adding Ballast.

Adding the glue to keep the ballast in place.

I found a white board to add my commuter trains to the Train Order Board.

Check this out...

Each of the Commuter Trains can now be "tracked"
on the Train Order Board.

This board will fit (and be able to be removed) over
the current Train Order Board.

Now I can include the Commuter Trains in the priority trains
using this extra Commuter Train Order Board.

YES! Finally figured out why the cameras weren't working...

Check this out!

If you really want to know, you'll need to ask.
I'm too embarrassed to publish the reason.

Here's another look at the Train Order Board...

This board is for the passenger/commuter trains.

And this board is for the freight trains.

You can see me running to the office in this photo.

I attached the neighborhood people to their respective
patios.

Cleaning up and getting ready for guests.

I also replaced the battery for the 3rd Street grade
crossing signals in Geneva.

You can view an action video of this day in my Weekly Layout Update below.

When I tried to change this battery at Melrose Park
I pulled out one wire. After reattaching the wire
the grade crossing signals are back in order.
