Sun, Oct 12, 2025

Jordan stopped by today instead of tomorrow for
a look at the progress around the layout.

Brian Zielke gave me a label making machine from
his Dad. I will use this to make labels for...

...the new switch I installed.

Train Day!
w/Rob Fair 6-8pm 2 hours

Worked on CNW C40-8 #8526 locomotive decoder installation

Check this out...

Another session with the decoder. Hopefully we'll
continue to make progress on this install.

Rob Fair figuring out how to mount
the motor/fly wheel

Getting ready to solder the track wires to the frame

That didn't work so Rob tapped the hole to place a
screw into the frame and then solder a wire to that screw

Here are the two screws in place ready to wrap the
black and red wires for track pickup

All set. Now let's see if it works.

I should have taken a video of the working locomotive.
I will do that tomorrow.

Time to go.
Thanks, Rob, for all your help tonight!

Working on replacing the lights that burned out.
I also renamed the loco decoder from "03" to "8526"

Up early getting some work done at the workbench...

I needed to remove the previous burned out bulbs
with new bulbs and resistors

That took me 25 minutes

Later that evening...

Testing the new bulbs
Reverse working as you can see...

And now for the forward test. YES! All set!
