Train Day!
w/Rob Fair 6-8pm 2 hrs.

Working on the final operations for the current Train Order Board.
Moving Commuter Trains from Chicago Terminal to California Ave Maintenance Facility.

And then moving them back to Chicago Terminal.

Rob worked the Chicago Terminal Switcher

He would drop them off at the California Avenue
Maintenance Facility and I would switch them
to the California Avenue Cleaning Yard.

This is what the California Avenue Clean Yard
looks like after all the Commuter Trains are in location.

This is where the Commuter Trains came from...
Chicago Terminal Track 1

Chicago Terminal - Tracks 3 & 4

Chicago Terminal - Tracks 6 & 7

Chicago Terminal - Tracks 4 & 5

Tonight's workhorse. UP SW1500 #1064

Rob put on his surgical hat and is removing one
of the wall pieces.

After we finished we put the wall back together again.
Much better alignment this time.

A little more adjustments and we'll call it a night.

More sugery.

Moving all the cars back to Chicago Terminal

First Commuter Train back to Chicago Terminal

Half way there. Already moved two trains back.

Last train back from CACY to CT

Working on new locations for lamp posts on Clinton Street Chicago Terminal

This lamp post was added back
in the scene after being taken
out so I could install the stairs.

The traffic light was on the opposite corner, but
now it is back on the scene on the opposite corner.

That took 27 minutes to complete this project.

Next up: Wiring the lights I just reinstalled...

There you go. All lit up.

As noted before, I had to move the traffic light to the other side of the street.
I like this location even better.

Look what was delivered to my front door today...

Cost breakdown:
Item: $13.39
S&H:  $5.59
Tax:     $1.14
Total: $20.12

Working on Lake Street "L" Platforms and Canopy

Lake Street South Platform/Canopy in place.
Tonight I'm going to install the North Platform/Canopy.

Another view of the south side of the station stop.

There's the north side of the station platform/canopy
in place. Just need to add guard rails and lighting.

Another look at the platforms/canopies.

Working on the lighting of the Lake Street "L" platform

First thing is to install the plastic tubing "conduit"
for the wire to go from the canopy to the source

Next up: Connect the wires together.
I didn't leave enough lead wire to make this easier.

Now check to make sure after all that handling
the lights still operate as expected. Yes! They do!

Keep checking to make sure the lights still work.

Using my alligator clips attached to the variable
DC current.

More work space mess.

My workbench in the middle of a  project.

Now to solder, tuck in and glue down all the wires.

There we go. It's looks messy, but you shouldn't
see this when it's installed on the model.

Ready to install the platform canopy with lights.
This is what the workbench looks like after finishing
this project.

But before I install the canopy, let's check the lights
one  more time. Yes! Still work! Whew!
