Week 305

Sunday, May 31, 2020 thru Saturday, June 6, 2020

This week's goals:
1. Finish sifting sand.
2. Finish wiring parking  lot lights.
3. Film Season 1 Episode 5

Sunday, May 31, 2020

Parking lot is completely installed.
Glue is dried and secured.

Office entrance view.

Dock view.
I noticed there wasn't a lot of room for the truck loads to manuever so I decided to extend the asphalt at the dock.

Glue is down waiting for asphalt layer.

While the additions are drying I'll paint the lines in th lot.

Just using chalk, but I like it.
Here you can see the marks where I'll install the parking lot light poles.

Light poles in place.

Drone view.

SPECIAL GUESTS: Ida & Charlie Zielke

When I got home from work today, I had two special guests who said, "Boppa, I want to see the train." YES!

All Charlie needs is an engineer's cap!

Ida Zielke is still interested in playing trains with Boppa.

Where's that smile?

TRAIN DAY IS BACK!
Rob Fair couldn't come tonight, but Jordan is BACK!
Yeah!
6-7:15pm 1.25 hrs.
Peace OUT (or should I say, IN?)
Jordan and I will clean the track tonight.
Here you can see the track cleaning car leading UP7510.

Tonight I tested out some resistors to see which ones would work for the parking lot lights...
If I read the stripes correctly these are 850 ohlms resistors.
I tested four resistors all together.
These three were in separate bags in a drawer in the electronics cabinet.

These resistors came with the light fixtures when I purchased them from China.

Test light 1 using 12v transformer.

Test light 2 using 12v transformer.

Test light 3 using 12v transformer.

Test light 4 using 12v transformer.
Summary:
I don't think there's much of a difference in the four tests.
I ended up using the resistors that came with the light fixtures.

TRAIN DAY!
Our second session since the pandemic stay-at-home orders were put in place.
Jordan Osborn stopped by from 4-5pm.

Welcome Back Train Friends!
We're back in business!

This Episode Introduction never made it to the final cut because...

No Train Activity today.

Friday, June 5, 2020

SPECIAL GUESTS:
Joe DiFiglio and Jack Fischer
Jan kept Leslie and Phyllis upstairs for clean-up.
They missed the show and it was a really good one!

Today I spent an hour cleaning the mainline track with White Vinegar and water.
The one side of the t-shirt is drenched with the vinegar the  other side is drenched with water.

Hopefully this will do the trick.
You'll need to check next week for the final results.

My goal this week was to finish the parking lot lighting.
That didn't happen because of the rail cleaning disaster.

By the way, if I didn't make it clear earlier...Jordan and I cleaned the rails using the track cleaning car and GooGone on Monday. On Wedenesday, when we wanted to run the mixed freight the UP7510 AC6000 wouldn't run on the "new cleaned" rails. After further research we read about using vinegar and water to clean the rails. That's what I did and that's where we stand right now.

Next week I'll run more trains and see how they respond on the new cleaned rails.
