Train Day!
with Rob Fair and Jordan Osborn

Tonight our goal was to finish the Lake Street City Viaduct extension.
Here you can see Rob Fair making final preparations to complete the job.

The next series of photos will concentrate on our projects that need to be completed before we can offer up a Train Show for the community.
This is the Kedzie Avenue Station extension to the east Project.
The Plan is to lower the tower, extend the platform and install a wall and parking lot on the lower level.

The other project we need to complete is the Melrose Park/College Ave. Station/Platform.
Most of the work you'll see in the next couple of days will be taken from this location.

Checking the main station and the shelter for clearance before cutting the parts for the platforms.

Next, I cut the platform base to match the cork roadbed.
The distance from the "ground" to the top of the rail is 3/16" and that's the height of the balsa wood I bought for the edging of the platform.

Another view of same progress.

Ben's Birthday today!
But I also got some work done on the RR today...
Today I glued down the platform "base".

Same progress different view.

Our 39-year Wedding Anniversary today!
But also had some time to progress on the RR...
Once the base was installed, I had to cut out a pattern for the filler and for the asphalt layer.

I'm sorry this came out blurry.
I must have moved when I took the photo.
Here's a different look of same progress as previous photo.

In this photo you can see the 3/16" balsa wood I'll use for the platform edging.
Before final installation I'll stain the balsa wood a dark brown.
