Week 97

Week 97

Sunday, May 29, 2016
Sometimes I'm able to do more than just "Train Day" on Wednesday.
This week was pretty successful in getting work done in advance.

Preparing to wire up these switch machines to the switch controls at the Central Control Tower.

Getting things ready.

Monday, May 30, 2016
I was even able to get some work done on Monday...
 All wired up.

The underside view of the crossover wiring for the crossover switch machines.

One end of the 25 pair cable which is under the South Power District.

This is the other side of the 25 pair cable located at the Central Control Tower.

WHAT'S ON YOUR WORKBENCH THIS WEEK?
I was working on the switch machines.
Trying to find ones that worked properly.

AND FINALLY...

TRAIN DAY!

Wednesday, June 1, 2016
Ed, Dean, Jordan & Josh came on time.
Carlos had a meeting at work and came as soon as he could.
Missed Rob Fair tonight. He had a doctor's appointment.

Here's what we accomplished tonight...

Dean Hatzis tried his hand at Plaster of Paris instead of Hydrocal.
Jury is still out as to our preference.

 Josh Jones moving trains.

Our goal tonight was to move the commuters to the four tracks shown in the foreground.

While Josh got the switches lined up, Jordan Osborn engineered the train.

Ed Nelson making continual progress on the switch machine conversion from manual to electronic.

Carlos Baez came from his meeting and went to work fixing problems.
We had a connection disconnect on a switch machine and Dr. Carlos came to the rescue.

Another view of Dean laying down the "concrete" slab for Global 1.

I took Josh off the Commuter Car detail and moved him to the inspection station.
His job was to remove the old couplers and install Kadee couplers on this cement hopper.

Dean Hatzis prepares for next week.

WHAT'S ON YOUR WORKBENCH THIS WEEK?
Well, you can see the car Josh was working on.
Plus some other misc. stuff that needs to be straightened up.

 Ed Nelson's finished work.
Next week I'll wire these up for automatic control from the Central Control Tower.

 Carlos Baez finished work.
Letting the glue dry overnight.

 Dean Hatzis finished work.

Another angle.

Saturday, June 4, 2016

And a bit more progress to be made at Global 1
 Removing the tape.

Polishing the rails.

To prepare for next week's train show I stopped by to pick up some more Plaster of Paris
