Finished ballasting CNW Engine Facility

Another look at the UP Engine Facility

Mon, May 5, 2025

Up early to get ready for tonight's train session...

The tables are a mess...

Stuff accumulates if you don't put things away...

There are "tels" here buried under previous civilizations.

This table at the Powder River Basin is in pretty
good shape. Just working on the sign project.

See the sign to the left?
I need to change the 2 and the 4 to 6 and 8.

I will use this table as my staging table to move
stuff to for sorting and organizing.

Before I put these into plastic
bag I want to capture what's
inside.

At least I put away the ballast. Still a mess...

This table is cleared now and only left with Rob's
gift from Norm Zielke's attic.

Workbench still a mess. More work to do here.

The Powder River Basin table in good shape.

Staging table getting more stuff.

Time for Train Day!
w/Rob Fair 6-8pm 2 hrs.
Jordan Osborn 6:15-7:15pm 1 hr.
Marcus Thorsen 6:30-7pm 30 mins.

Rob begins tonight at the workbench making progress
on the steam engine Marcus brought last week.

Jordan greets our guests.

Marcus joins us and lends a hand to Rob.

Putting away the intermodal train.
Eventually we will be changing the wheel sets
back to 33". Ever since I changed them to 36"
wheels sets the performance has been less than stellar.

Picking up the cars waiting for pick up.

The RR pin my brother, Bill,
picked up from a Metra
conductor on the BNSF line.

This train originated tonight from Chicago Terminal
heading westbound to Geneva and then finally to
West Chicago Yard for overnight storage.

Updating paperwork from yesterdays Train Session

Running the Commuter Train 1C and finishing the
intermodal train.

A very fun day.

I took pictures along the UP West Line where they are adding a 3rd Track
from West Chicago Kress Rd. to Geneva Peck Road.

of my Train Adventure this morning
Duration: 05:34 mins.

I was even able to catch a few trains.

I took this picture today because
I want to model a service road
near Proviso Yard on my layout.

I will use this picture as the prototype to make my service road.

Back in my basement...

Time to move all the CNW locomotives back to their
storage tracks at the CNW Engine Facility

I already put away the DC locos.
Now to put away the DCC locos.

That was quick!

Final view of both Engine Facilities.
Ballasting is complete for both.

Disconnecting the mother board for F40PH locomotives to send to Walthers

Hopefully I will receive a new decoder and reinstall.
I may or may not need these pictures.

Here's what it cost to send this via UPS to WI

Working on the UP Engine Facility access road.

I'm going to fill in these opening.

Pieced in some pink foam board

I will cut this gauze and then soak it in water
to lay it in place on another day...

Fri, May 9, 2025

No train activity today.

More progress on the UP Engine Facility access road...

I cut the gauze to fit. Before I dip them in water,
I need to install the plexi-glass.

The plexi-glass on the left I had to discard because
it wasn't clear. Bummer. I did install the plexi-glass
on the right. That should do it.

It will serve the purpose of keeping the structures
safe of arms reaching over and destroying them.

I dipped the gauze in water and will wait for this
to set overnight. Then I'll paint them and finish the
access road next week.

Here's the next picture with the Hydrocal over the mesh
