Week 543

Sun, Dec 22, 2024 thru Sat, Dec 28, 2024

I ran Commuter Train 1E from Geneva to Chicago
Terminal Track 1 tonight. Made it safe and sound.

I detached the locomotive (F40PH #138) and sent
it to the CT locomotive shop for maintenance.

Here's the other end of Commuter Train 1E on
Chicago Terminal Track 1.

This is where Commuter Train 1E originated for
the EB run to the Chicago Terminal. It started
at the West Chicago Yard Track 2 and then went
to Geneva to begin the EB journey downtown on Track 2.

Here's the Train Order Board that shows Sequence
Train #14 EB to Geneva on Clipboard 6F.

I also worked on Berkeley station platforms...

I had to trim the whole platform because the well-
cars get stuck because they are too high above the rails.

I tried to file down the rough surfaces.

BEFORE
Christmas Dinner at 415 Park Ave
Mom & Dad's place

Using the Powder River Basin table for
my next BIG project...

I'm going to finally finish Clinton Street along
the Chicago Terminal.

Paint the store fronts and put in street lights.

First step: Paint the dock doors black.

Cut the sections to fit the two sections above.

Next step is to paint the wall docks.
But the paint got stuck so now I'm stuck.

AFTER
Christmas Dinner

Clara started running Amtrak Train 1F 1 lap.
I finished the next 4 laps tonight and parked my train
at Chicago Terminal Track 4.

I pushed it too far and knocked over the bumper at
the end of Track 4. Calling the Maintenance Crew
to come clean up my mess.

I bought a new can of paint so I can continue the project...

The first can got me started, the second can will help
me finish.

There's still a little red coming through the yellow.

A second coat does the job.

Removing the tape shows the exposed plastic
where I will glue the connecting posts.

This is where those pieces will go. Along Clinton Street.

Gluing in the dock doors.

Waiting for the dock doors to dry.

Another work station.

Now to clean up my messes.

Painting the trim that will go above the traffic
underpass.

Weights as we wait for the glue to set overnight.

Highlight of my week...

Running trains with my wife, Jan, and grand kids Lissette & Selah.

Selah & Nana enjoying the trains.

Lissette at the controls.

The Amtrak train is running and now the Excursion
is joining the show.

Nana and Selah viewing the trains.

Back at the controls.

Saying "Hi" to Momma on the phone.

"Hi Mommy"

"Isn't this so much fun Nana?'

Up early working on the RR...

Attaching the underpass to the tag board for firm support.

Gluing the first section in place and putting the
foam to press against the background while glue sets.

These pieces I will use to connect the walls and
attach to the top of the underpass top.

Wait on the weights for the glue to set.
