No Train Activity Today...watching Grandkids...

Wed, Dec 28, 2022

As Selah slept, I had some "free" time to work on the train...

The other grandkids were with Nana at the theatre.

Glue has set, now it's time to paint.
We'll use this photo as our BEFORE shot.

Painting finished.
AFTER shot.

I forgot to take a picture, but I did add a yellow safety
line on the near platform by the station.
(I went back downstairs to take the picture...see below)

This care was taken out of service a few Sundays
ago when Chris & Josiah Andrews were here.
Josiah noticed there was no spring in the coupler.

I tried to install a new spring, but it sprung out.
I decided to install a whole new coupler.

I put the car back in place in Train 5A and next time
we run this train, I will include the paperwork on this
repair and report the results after the run.

Here's a picture of the station with the yellow safety
line in place.

I had about 45 minutes to work on the RR tonight...

I decided to work on the articulated 5-car well cars to see if I could get them working again...

First Stop: Workbench
Here's the 3-ring binder where I keep all the notes
on every locomotive/rolling stock.

I ended up replacing all the plastic wheels sets with metal wheels sets.
Most wheels sets are 33" - these are 36".

I took the set of cars and ran them by hand around
the layout - 1 full lap. It ran ok by itself.

Next Stop: Run a train with this unit set included.

Jan and I ran errands today and one of the stops that I was allowed to make was...

B&G Hobby World

Here's what I purchased...

I bought two decoders for $23.
One building part for Chicago Terminal construction
for $9.99. Tax $3.91 and tip $0.10. Total outlay $60.00
