Train Day! with Rob Fair
6-8pm 2 hours
Tonight we concentrated on putting a unit coal train together at the Powder River Basin.

PRB coal run.

I thought I got a good deal for this top-of-the-line Athearn Genesis model

| After inspecting the contents I was a bit disappointed in my purchase. Here's what I found or didn't find: 1. One hydraulic brake piston was broken off (see picture) 2. One missing step hand rail (I'll get a picture of that too...) 3. Rear/Trailing truck not secured 4. Front antennae bent 5. Both couplers broken - front of both knuckles missing |

I was disappointed with the condition of the locomotive. I thought it was a good deal until I inspected and found the following defects: 1. Hydraulic brake piston broke off 2. Missing a step hand rail 3. Rear/Trailing truck not secure, sagging from frame 4. Roof radio antennae bent 5. Both couplers were broken - front of both knuckles missing Would you consider a $50 refund and I will keep the locomotive or would you prefer I send it back?

| I'm finally going to paint the ballast pink for the CNW "pink lady" look. |

| I received the $50 rebate ($54 w/taxes) from the seller of the SD60M. I'm very happy with this result. I believe I can get the parts I need to make this a successful purchase. |

| I'm even going to lay some out between Crossover #2 and the WeGo diamonds. |
 |
| I've done the first part around Crossover #2 and sprayed down the next section. |
 |
| Finished through the diamonds at West Chicago. |

Did some more ballasting...

Then I extended the East Yard at Powder River Basin

| I'm going to extend Tracks 2 & 3 about 2 inches. |
 |
| Removed bumpers. |
 |
| Clamped in the filler piece the new tracks will use as a base. |
 |
| Ready to put a fresh piece of cork in place. |
 |
| Cork in place and glued. |
 |
| Now we wait for the weights to do their job. Finish up tomorrow. |
And then some very SPECIAL GUESTS stopped by today...
