Train Day!
With Rob Fair...
6-8:30pm (1.5 hrs.)
Rob Fair prepares to cut filler for Lake Street.

While Rob worked on the road fill, I sliced in the RR crossing section of the road.

Cut out the middle section, and...

...put in the new section.

Then I went to Kedzie Ave. alley and wired up the new lights.

One section of fill installed at Lake Street.

You can see the fill sections here.

Rob Fair installing the fill layers.

We had a problem with the bridge supports.

While Rob worked on the bridge supports, I checked out the workbench.
This car fell to the floor and finally is being trashed.
It has always been a thorn in my flesh even though it was a very nice looking car.

I reconnected the wires to make this light turn on.

I also hooked up the alley lights tonight.

Here's a view that shows the lights that weren't on, now on.

Rob and I finished putting the Lake Street urban viaduct in place.

Here's a cross sectional view of the same.

Rob Fair started pulling apart the "EL" tracks.

It will be one panel at a time.
Very tedious.

No train activity today.

Jordan stopped over this afternoon from 12:30-2pm.
Here's what we did...
Jordan Osborn helped me drill out the holes in the sidewalks for the street lights.

You can see three holes drilled here.
Two are for the street lights, and one is for the clock.

I inserted straws in all of the drilled out holes so the wires could flow through the wood with nothing to inhibit the pass.

We got a bit creative and put in some temporary crossing walks.
The painters had a bit of an accident on the far side of the crosswalk.

If you look closely you can see most of the holes we drilled.
Altogether we drilled out 4 in the center median for the double-light street light poles.
We drilled out 17 holes for the single-light street light poles.

Special Guests tonight...
Welcome to Mom & Dad, Ed & Amber Smith and their three kids: Clark, Lincoln, and Nora.
We had a blast!

Everyone took turns at each of the two throttles.
Here is Lincoln on the NE Power Districts and Nora on the SW Power Districts.
Supervising is Clark.

Another view of the same crew.

In the background we have Amber, Ed, and Mom.

Here's an action video to show a little bit of what happened tonight...
Length: 00:00:31 sec.

Nora helped me around the layout. Here's she's checking out the elevated tracks.

Amber Smith and Dad look on at the East Power District.

And here we have the whole family in one picture.

Jan avoided all pictures, but if you look closely you can see her in this picture.
