Jordan Osborn stopped by today and helped me get some work done.
Check this out...
We decided to work on the bridge at the north end of Melrose Park.

Jordan Osborn in his infamous pose.

More work on the bridge and the roadway that leads to it.

Jordan Osborn reviewing the troubleshooting log.
Yes, it's very troubling.

The cardboard pieces will go in the space I'm cutting out for them to fit.

Here are the cardboard pieces now in place.

Jordan doesn't look too happy here, but we did have a good time tonight working on the railroad.
This shot shows how we're moving all the commuter coaches and cabs to California Ave. yard.
Length: 00:00:12 sec.

I cut out the black tarp paper to use as the base for the downtown area above Chicago Terminal Union Station.
The piece I cut out is under the hardboard in the background.

Train Day! 6-7:30pm
Rob Fair and Jordan Osborn 6:45-8:15pm (1.5)
Interesting night...
Jordan Osborn checks over his trouble shooting pad.

Rob Fair works on securing the base level for Melrose Park.

First we clean off the surface.

Then we use Gorilla Glue to secure the foam board to the base.

You don't see it here, but we also glued down the "asphalt" layer as well.
As soon as I clear off the weights I'll take a picture of the "asphalt" layer for you to see.

My brother, Bill, has a friend who dropped off his train stuff for us to review.

Here's some tinplate track and equipment.

Here's his Lionel collection.

And here's his HO and N scale collection.
Should be fun to see what he has good and bad.

Train Day! 4-5:30pm
Carlos Baez 4-5pm (1) Josh Jones 4:15-5:30pm (1.25) Jordan Osborn 4-5:45pm (1.75)
Kinda disjointed night, but we did get some work done.
Carlos Baez and I discussed progress and technique for the first 30 minutes.

We talked about how to wire downtown Chicago.

Jordan Osborn has his sights on some real trouble shooting tonight.

Carlos Baez started ballasting the Mainline to Powder River Basin in Wyoming.

Progress made.

Ready for adhesive.

Jordan, Josh and I went back to Melrose Park - took off the weights and prepared for the next step.

While I cut out the footprints at Melrose Park, Jordan Osborn and Josh Jones ran the CNW SD38-2 engines leading a mixed freight.
No problems.

Here is the footprint for Melrose Park.
Now you should start seeing some real progress.
Next Step? Cut out the sidewalk and building bases.
