Working on the UP Engine Terminal

First I need to take out the switch that leads into the terminal.

Now that the switch is gone, I can move to the next step.

I laid the new #6L switch where it belongs and now I will cut the cork to fit.

Once the cork is cut I'll get the glue/adhesive out and secure the cork to the base.

After the glue is secured, I'll put the cork on top and then use a rolling pin to flatten the glue.

Finally, I put a piece of plywood over the surface and then place weights on the plywood until the adhesive cures.

Continue work on UP Engine Terminal and Rob Fair working on Kedzie Avenue Station.

I let the weights stay on overnight and then removed for tonight's work.

Rob Fair will continue his work on making the roof shorter for Kedzie Avenue Station.

Train Day! Just Jordan and me.

Now to begin the CNW Engine Terminal.

After cutting the cork, I put down the adhesive.

Laying down the cork over the fresh adhesive.

Jordan Osborn secures the rolling pin to flatten the adhesive below the cork.

Jordan Osborn helps put on the weights to keep the cork secured to the adhesive.

Weights in place overnight for final curing of adhesive.

I will extend the track to where the engines are resting.

I went downstairs today and tried to decide what I would do tomorrow for Labor Day.

I took this picture, which will show what I decided.

I took this picture after I already started to clean up the area.
Yep, that's what I'm gonna do.
Clean up the messes throughout the layout.

Labor Day Holiday!

I did some more clean up and organizing today.

Check this out...

It's funny how one thing leads to another.
Since I had all the UP locomotives over on the other side of the layout.
To clean up the place, I went ahead and planned out the UP Engine Terminal.

Here's a mock-up of the shelf I plan to build.

Here's the clean-up effort in the East Power District.

I cleaned up Global 2 west Proviso Yard.

This eventually will be downtown West Chicago.

TRAIN DAY today!

This will be a bit of a surprise, so prepare yourself.

As you can see, I've already moved all the CNW locomotives to their proper location.
Now I'm getting ready to build the shelf for the UP locomotives.

Start with the plywood top. Cut it to shape.

Next, we cut the 1x4s to fit the plywood top.

Secured the top.

Put in place with leg support.

Now for the UP locomotive move.
But that will wait for another time.
