Week 580

Sun, Sep 7, 2025 thru Sat, Sep 13, 2025

Sun, Sep 7, 2025

Before heading down to the EMRRC (Elmhurst
Model Railroad Club) we spotted a real live train
up on the mainline

Some views around the layout...

Josiah Andrews stopped by the club to run a train.
He and his dad, Chris, are members.

Josiah Andrews, Jordan & Chris Osborn

We had a great time at the club.

Chris bought this for me on ebay and brought it
up from North Carolina this week.

Thank you Chris!
He said, "This is from Jordan"
What a great gift!

He also had this rare Walthers kit of spline cars.

Rob's progress on Track 1

Realigning the track and making it longer to fit
two switching locomotives

Mission Accomplished.
I will finish this project later in the week.

Rob checking his work.

We finished off the night switching the
Powder River Basin East Yard

We filled tracks 1 and 2.
Just need to finish filling track 3 and this job will be complete.

I stopped by B&G Train World today...

...and bought an 8 pin decoder.
Cost: Item $30 + tax $2.55 = $32.55 total

Wed, Sep 10, 2025

Finished switching Powder River Basin East Yard
and adding coal to the cars.

Waiting more waiting exhausting waiting
Failed to figure out how to print out full roster
I will really need to completely start over.
UGH!

Thu, Sep 11, 2025

I finally figured out how to get a printout of the JMRI roster

Now I need to download this information into
a spreadsheet so when I start fresh I will have all
the information right here!

Fri, Sep 12, 2025

Trying to get organized.

Check this out:

I'm reorganizing the decoders to be stored with the
locomotives they control

I'm testing which of these will be used for the RR.
I'm leaning toward the one on the right.

I'd like to get these two tables cleared so Jan will
at least feel she has a little more room to roam in the
basement. It's not ALL trains!

Yeah! I did make some progress.
Compare these photos with the ones above:

Kitchen table is cleared off.

Dining Room table has one less computer work station.

And the only table left in the 3rd room storage area
is a table with Jan's stuff on it! No train stuff - at least
on the tables. 😳

Sat, Sep 13, 2025

Today I spent the time at the kitchen table updating the Maintenance Log sheets
for each of my locomotives. I will include the decoder assignments on each
of these sheets. Tomorrow I will assign the decoder ID with each of the corresponding locomotives.
