Played trains today after softball game...

I finished applying the "grass" and planting trees

Sequence Train #11 Mixed Freight Train 5D WB
just finished 3 laps. Ready for laps 4 & 5.

The first car derails at this point. I need to trouble-
shoot this during the next two laps.

These two cars uncouple if the train stops.
Not good.

I played trains for about 1 hour. The time before
39 minutes I spent on the playground (see next photo)

I took away the weights I used to keep the tree
in place. I also tidied up the playground.

I consisted the C2 locos using my DCS 51 command
station. It was a very successful run. Only two problems
which I already mentioned above.

I ran 3 laps and sat at Central Control Tower where
I played all three parts - Engineer, Conductor & Dispatcher.

Working on the RR this morning...

I'm going to do some ballasting at Proviso Yard
this morning...

I put in the access road a while back, so now I'm
going to ballast Track 6 on the UP side of Proviso Yard

Looking the other direction

Spreading the ballast this direction...

...and the other direction

Using a pipette to cover with glue.

Looking in the other direction.

I decided to check out the grinding sound on the
Road Power C2 CNW SD40-2 6928.

It ran great with the shell off. As soon as I put the shell back on the sound returned.
Not really sure what the cause of the sound is so I can't really figure out how to solve it.
Bummer. Sad face.

More ballasting and some track repairs

Yesterday I noticed the access road had some loose
gravel, so I got some glue and put an end to that!

Since I made some more glue solution I also decided
to continue ballasting the yard throat at Proviso Yard
East end. First Step: Tape off the switches.

2nd Step: Lay down the ballast

3rd Step: Shape the ballast

4th Step: Use a pipette and saturate the ballast
Remove the tape

5th Step: Wipe down the rails & let the glue dry

I've been wanting to solder these loose wires to the
rails for the longest time.

Finally getting the job done.

A look from the top. If you can't tell where the wires
are located then I did a really good job of hiding my work

Finally, the last project for the day.
Start the middle platform for Bellwood station

Cutting out the cork roadbed

Making a pattern then cutting out the foam board

Inserting to make it fit. Tomorrow I'll glue it down.
