Train Day!
with Rob Fair 6-8pm 2 hrs.
Jordan needed a break after all the work this
weekend helping his Dad.

Finishing touches on the entrance to the
California Avenue Coach Yard at Sacramento Blvd.

Our goal tonight is not written out. I decided,
last minute, that we would work out the kinks
on all the switches in this stretch.
Rob Fair is checking clearance on one of the cars
that has a low riding truck.

The switches needed quite a bit of work on clearing
the ballast that got stuck between the switch gear.

This picture was taken from the monitor at the
Central Control Tower.

Rob Fair with his power tool.
Working our way down the line...

I didn't realize I took a ".gif" picture which puts
motion into a regular picture.
Rob is doing our final test of this area.
It was successful, by the way...

After the "switch stretch" was finished we headed
to the switch to Powder River Basin...

Somehow the arm was removed from the base...
Another successful fix by Rob Fair!

Finally, our last "fix it" project.

For some reason, the steam excursion would derail
every time where Rob is sitting.

Rob ended up filing down some solder that was
over the rails. The lead wheels must have jumped
the track and the drive wheels followed.

Tue, Feb 23, 2021

I've added another "unofficial" goal this week.
Fix the front coupler and the pilot on Metra F40PH #132.

I also updated one more week on the timeline.
Let's see...just 40 more to do.

If each week takes about 20 minutes that's a total of 800 minutes or 13.5 hours to go.

UGH!

Wed, Feb 24, 2021

One more done. 39 to go.

If I don't update two each week I'll never make any progress since every week I add another week.

UGH!

It's okay, I'll keep plugging away!

Time for more weathering of locomotives.
BEFORE

This is the acrylic paint I bought from B&G yesterday.

AFTER weathering.

I also did three more inspections/repairs of rr cars.

This one needed trucks and couplers.

Here are the three cars ready for a test run.

This caboose really needs some weathering work.
