Working on the RR...
I had to cut out a bit more of the trim to make it a straight shot to the new 1x4 cross piece.

There, now doesn't that look a  lot cleaner?

Continuing work on Kedzie Avenue East.
I added the goose-neck light to the side door.

I also reattached the back door which had fallen off.
Security breach - had to be fixed!

Back at the station platform...I cut this section out for the roof top, but then when we added the second floor I had to put it back in for fill.

I added the California Avenue Coach Yard sign at the entrance to the Metra shops.

And I repositioned the utility worker as he fixes the burned out bulb.

Train Day! with Jordan Osborn
3-4pm (1 hr.)

You may not notice, but the light on this side of the billboard is totally out of place.
I will detach this "blinking" bulb and replace with a constant glow bulb.

Today I will also paint and install the railing at Kedzie Avenue East.

First I need to fasten the three parts into one long railing.

Here are the three parts shown separated between the blocks of wood.

Here are the railings cemented together to make one long railing.

While I was working on the railing, Jordan engineered a local freight led by CNW SD40-2 "Hawk".

Preparing the long railing for painting.

All set, ready to install.

While waiting for the paint to dry, I wired up the goose neck door lights.

Also working on replacing the "blinking" light with a constant glow light on the billboard.

All set! Done!
That was quick!

How it looks from the other side.

Now to begin installing the railing at Kedzie Avenue East.

First, I need to drill the holes where we'll drive in the posts.

Here are all the holes drilled and ready for cement.

All went into place fairly easy.

Same scene different view.

A little more progress...
Now to install the "asphalt" layer.

All glued down and weight applied until the glue is set.
I used regular Elmer's Glue to adhere the "asphalt" to the foam layer.

BEFORE fixing the hand rails.

AFTER fixing the hand rails.

Once the "asphalt" layer cured, it's time for the scenery.

Here's the almost completed scene.
Still need to add bushes and vehicles.
And, it looks like we need to add the roofs and accessories - antenna, downspouts, electronics, etc.

Happy Birthday, Emily!

Check out this nice progression on Kedzie Avenue East...
Just a few shrubs in place...

All the cracks filled with shrubbery.

Then I used the leftover static grass.
What do you think?
The final step is to cut and install the trim and plexiglass.

Sat, Feb 2, 2019

Going to Chicago today, but before we leave, I had some time to work on the RR...
Finished Kedzie Avenue East parking lot.
I still need to secure trim and plexi-glass.

An Overall view of Kedzie Avenue East and Kedzie Avenue Metra Station.
Length: 00:00:25 sec.

Trim and Plexi-glass now installed.

Another view...

Still need to add antenna and roof details.

Roof details added and using "props" to keep in place while glue dries and sets.
