| Lift the rails and ties to level the rails. |
![]() |
| This is the before picture. Look closely at the cone to see the dip in the rail. |
![]() |
| Water the ballast again to prepare for the glue. |

| This is the AFTER photo to show how I leveled the rail. |

| Glue on the ballast. |

| I used the yard ballast I have on hand. |

| Wipe down the rails before the glue dries. Very important! |
Get ready for...
Train Day!
w/Rob Fair 6-7:30pm 1.5 hrs.
Wow! We got a lot done in a shortened session!
We ended up having three distinct projects to complete...
I will call them "Sections"
Section 1
Sequence Train Project #22
![]() |
| Rob Fair works on getting Transfer Train cars in order. |
![]() |
| Using all the yard tracks to get the job done! |
![]() |
| Meanwhile, Curt worked at the Proviso UP West yard to prepare Train 5A for incoming transfer train cars from West Chicago Yard |
![]() |
| Rob watches as the transfer train cars, now in order, head east to Proviso Yard to be added to Train 5A. |
Section 2
...at the workbench checking switch machines
![]() |
| Next, we shift our attention to the workbench where Rob checks the switch machines to see which ones work and which ones should be used as manual switches. |
![]() |
| We found out that each one works just fine. |
Section 3
Fixing switch machine #5 at the Industrial Park
![]() |
| We went to the Industrial Park and did some trouble- shooting on crossover switch #5. |
![]() |
| We removed it and checked to be sure it was working properly. It was. So then we reinstalled it and found it was mounted incorrectly. Rob took care of that and now it works perfectly! Nice work, Rob! |
![]() |
| The switches work in tandem just fine now. |
![]() |
| A job well done on the railroad tonight. Thank you Rob Fair! |

I was up early this morning and decided to tackle the replace the broken end of the cable...
![]() |
| I needed to mark the top of the cable so I could put it in the new cable end properly. |
![]() |
| I used this special crimping tool to get the job done. |
![]() |
| The pictures in the manual were hard to figure out, but I did! |
![]() |
| I also had a cable tester kit and that showed SUCCESS! All four LEDs lit up! |
![]() |
| That took about 1 hour. I turned on the clock about 10 minutes into the project. |
Later that same day...
![]() |
| I ran Sequence Train 24 Metra Commuter Train 1C with F40PH 157 leading the WB Chicago Terminal to Geneva West Line Train at Oak Park Marion St. |
![]() |
| After the WB run, I terminated at Geneva Station. Then I brought the train for tomorrow's run to the West Chicago Yard Track 3. |

| Here's the Train Cars in Consist Manifest paperwork. |
